Willow Financial Bank Supports Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alexandra "Alex" Scott was the founder of Alex’s Lemonade Stand For Pediatric Cancer Research. Two days before her first birthday, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. At just four years old, this incredible little girl decided to open a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure. Alex lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, August 1, 2004 at the age of 8. She was with her family at home and slipped away peacefully while her parents held her hands.

Very few people go through life with a mission and purpose as clear as Alex. When she first came up with the idea to raise funds to help find a cure for pediatric cancer there were skeptics that doubted how a few glasses of lemonade would make a difference in the world of cancer research. Alex would say, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."

Inspired by the strength of this incredible little girl, Willow Financial Bank began holding lemonade stands at our banking offices in August of 2004. With support from customers, local businesses, employees, volunteers, family and friends, to date the Bank has raised $63,000.

Alex was the stuff heroes are made of and we are proud to honor her memory by doing what she would have wanted…to continue to raise money to find a cure. The Bank maintains a special account for "Alex’s Lemonade Stand" so that donations can be accepted at any time.
